How do you determine the weightiness of how much something is loved? We will look at the scriptures to find out how the seemingly unrepairable gap between us and God was bridged. Happy Resurrection Day, or as my Mom would say…Happy Independence Day!

Where there is motion, there is life. There is more to godliness than the acknowledgment of truth. It is the participation of it. Martin Luther once said, “You are saved by faith alone, but if faith is alone it is not faith.” We will take a look at the issues James, a leader of the Headquarter church in Jerusalem, had to address with the twelve tribes of Israel. His target audience were “religious” people who knew what to do but did not do, and even those who did not know were to prideful to ask for help.

Everyday we make choices, but sometimes our motivations for the actions we take are not a true reflection of God’s love. The bible tells us that love rejoices in the truth. Yes, love is more than just feelings; but, no love is not less than feelings. We will look at what the Apostle Paul considered as genuine love from the example the church of Macedonia gave us. Love is an overflow of our joy in God that gladly meets the needs of people.

Last week we looked into God’s word about finding our happiness in Him. This week we will discover what God’s word has to say about God’s delight and happiness. God’s chief end is to glorify Himself and enjoy Himself forever. Even though God is a self exalting God we will look at how his love for promoting and preserving His own glory comes full circle back to loving us.

Every Christian knows they should share their faith but statistics show how few actually do. Most Christians could tell you “ten steps to abundant living” but few could tell you how to effectively win someone to Christ. Jesus tells believers in Matthew 28:19 to “Go ye…” You will have to go outside of the church, go beyond yourself and go where you may not be comfortable. However, be assured, as you go God goes with you (Acts 1:8).

The second half of 1 Peter, the Apostle encourages believers that were scattered through Pontus, Galatia, Capadocia, Asia and Bithynia to endure suffering for doing good works. He tells us that we are to arm ourselves with the same attitude that Christ had when He suffered in his body for the good news sake. Peter tells us that suffering is inevitable, so you might as well suffer for Christ which has purpose and incorruptible reward.

There are doctrinal and theological issues the bible instructs us in, but there is also the practical side of us doing the work. The knowledge we receive from God’s word has to be more than a library of resources we stock up on the inside. There has to be application.
