God wants all of us to be happy, but not apart from Him. The Bible instructs us to delight ourselves in Him. Happiness and true joy are not separate from God. There is an old saying that tells us, “The chief end of man is to glorify God AND enjoy Him forever.” The emphasis is on the “AND”. These two things are not and should not be estranged from one another. We are supposed to seek and pursue happiness but only in God. It is not bad to desire our own good. In fact, the great problem of people everywhere today is that we are to easily pleased. The only way to triumph over sin long-term, is to gain a distaste for it because of a superior satisfaction in God.

<itunes:summary>God wants all of us to be happy, but not apart from Him. The Bible instructs us to delight ourselves in Him. Happiness and true joy are not separate from God. There is an old saying that tells us, "The chief end of man is to glorify God AND enjoy Him forever." The emphasis is on the "AND". These two things are not and should not be estranged from one another. We are supposed to seek and pursue happiness but only in God. It is not bad to desire our own good. In fact, the great problem of people everywhere today is that we are to easily pleased. The only way to triumph over sin long-term, is to gain a distaste for it because of a superior satisfaction in God.Download Standard Podcasts</itunes:summary>
